Parliament have announced plans to review proposals to increase annual university tuition fees by £250.

New legislation, which will be reviewed before the snap general election in June, gives universities independent powers to increase their fees yearly until 2020. The proposed legislation gives most higher education institutions the power to annually increase their tuition fees in line with inflation.

A new system of teaching quality measurement will be introduced, but won’t be implemented before 2020.
