WORK EXPERIENCE

I have completed a ten day work placement with Mortons Media Group Ltd between 18/02/19 and 01/03/19. I split my time between various departments including digital, picture desk, advertising, editorial, design, marketing and production editing. Some of my written work was published online at www,morebikes.co.uk and also inside the April issue of Motorcycle Monthly. My design work was used in Classic American magazine and Old Bike Mart newspaper, too (pictured below). I also completed marketing tasks such as press releases, worked on web content, proof read articles ready for print and completed live photo editing tasks on the picture desk.

My time on work placement at Mortons Media allowed me to develop my skills using systems such as Microsoft Excel, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Pure 360 and Wordpress.

Staff Comments...

PUBLISHER, TIM HARTLEY: "Rebecca has been a pleasure to host for the fortnight, and all the staff here have enjoyed her company. Comments such as 'polite', 'keen' are always good, and when our sub-editors are impressed with her grammar then I know it's good. She was interested in what she did, and despite some long days was always willing to take on more tasks. Really positive, well done!"

DESIGN: "Rebecca was great to work with and completed two pages for Classic American and one for Old Bike Mart. She also worked on a Kitchen Garden feature. She was really enthusiastic and inquisitive. Rebecca responded well to feedback and was a great help."

MARKETING: "She was great – best student so far."

DIGITAL: "Rebecca showed off her knowledge and experience with Wordpress, skills she would have gained from uni. We worked together on solving some issues and glitches with some of the posts, and she wasn’t afraid to ask questions about anything she was unsure of, which is great!

Rebecca also worked on producing some artwork for Classic Bike Guide social media pages, and continued to seek advice about how to improve her work. Rebecca seemed comfortable and got on with everyone in the Digital/Marketing office, and engaged with everybody. Great stuff!"

EDITORIAL: "She was pleasant, fitted in well, and had a seemingly good work ethic."

PICTURE DESK: "Rebecca was interested in the work that we undertook and was surprised at the amount we process in a day. Along with that she took on a couple of Photoshop challenges and did really well. She was eager to absorb the feeling of the office environment and how we all worked together."
